Partners for Progress executed a unique campaign strategy during the General Election. They tried to ride the coattails of the Democrat County Executive candidate, Hugh Nichols. Everyone knew Hugh was going to win, and everyone also knew he was really a Republican in Donkey's clothing. His position on every issue was closer to the positions of Partners for Progress than to the Democrats'. So they urged the public to "Give the next executive a council he can work with".
